1. Acceptance of the terms
These Terms of Service govern the use of DevReference, including the mobile app, the content catalog, DevReference Pro features, the website, and related services, when available.
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using DevReference, you confirm that you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with them, do not use the app.
If you use DevReference on behalf of a company or organization, you represent that you have the authority to accept these terms on its behalf.
2. What DevReference is
DevReference is a technical reference tool for software developers. Its purpose is to help you quickly review concepts, patterns, practices, architecture, security, databases, and other technical topics.
DevReference is not a course, a certification, professional advice, or a substitute for official documentation, technical specifications, security reviews, testing, audits, or the judgment of a qualified professional.
The content is offered as general reference material. Before applying a recommendation, pattern, code snippet, or configuration in a real project, you must evaluate its context, risks, requirements, and compatibility.
3. Eligibility and permitted use
You may use DevReference only for personal, educational, or legitimate internal professional purposes.
You agree not to:
- Use the app in a way that violates the law or the rights of others.
- Copy, extract, reproduce, sell, redistribute, publish, or commercially exploit the catalog or substantial parts of it without written authorization.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to DevReference's servers, protected content, systems, accounts, or features.
- Bypass, disable, alter, or interfere with security mechanisms, licenses, subscription validation, or usage limits.
- Decompile, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract source code, unless applicable law expressly allows it and it cannot be excluded by contract.
- Use bots, scripts, or automated mechanisms to extract content, overload the service, or collect data from the app.
- Send malicious content, spam, threats, unlawful information, or material that infringes third-party rights through the support channels.
4. Technical content and no professional warranty
We strive to keep the catalog clear, useful, and up to date. However, technology changes, and the content may contain errors, omissions, simplifications, or references that become outdated.
We do not guarantee that the content is complete, accurate, up to date, fit for a particular purpose, or error-free. You are responsible for reviewing, testing, and validating any decision, configuration, or code before using it in a development, testing, or production environment.
In particular, content related to security, authentication, cryptography, privacy, databases, performance, or infrastructure does not replace a specialized review or a security audit.
5. Availability and changes to the service
We may modify, update, add, remove, or discontinue features, categories, topics, articles, code styles, or parts of the service at any time.
We will try to keep DevReference available and functional, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Availability may be affected by maintenance, updates, network failures, third-party services, platform changes, or causes beyond our control.
When previously downloaded content stops being updated or is discontinued, we may show a notice inside the app. Access to downloaded content may depend on your subscription status and the applicable rules of the distribution platform.
6. Optional account and sync
You can use basic DevReference features without creating an account, when that option is available.
Some features, such as syncing favorites or collections across devices, may require linking an account through an available method. You are responsible for keeping the account you use to link secure and for notifying us if you detect unauthorized use.
We may suspend or limit access to account-linked features if we detect fraud, abuse, a breach of these terms, or a legal obligation to do so.
7. DevReference Pro
DevReference may offer a paid subscription called DevReference Pro. The availability, price, currency, period, benefits, and conditions shown inside the app at the time of purchase are part of the applicable offer.
The online catalog may be available for free. DevReference Pro enables additional convenience and organization features, which may include:
- Downloading topics for offline access.
- Custom collections or reviews.
- Sync across devices, when available.
- Automatic updates to downloaded content.
- Additional visual code styles.
The exact benefits may change in future versions of the app. If a change materially affects a paid feature, we will try to disclose it inside the app or through the available channels.
8. Purchases, renewal, and cancellation
DevReference Pro purchases are processed through Google Play, or through the applicable distribution platform if DevReference becomes available on other stores.
When you purchase a subscription:
- The charge is made to the payment method associated with your Google Play account, under that platform's rules.
- The subscription may renew automatically at the end of each period, unless you cancel before the deadline shown by Google Play.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription from your Google Play account's subscription settings.
- Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
- The availability of a free trial, discount, promotion, or special price will depend on what is shown on the purchase screen and on Google Play's conditions.
The price, billing period, and currency in effect are the ones shown on the purchase screen inside the app at the time you subscribe; DevReference Pro currently costs $99 MXN per year. The applicable cancellation window and grace period are the ones Google Play defines for your country.
9. Refunds
Refund requests are governed by Google Play's policies and applicable law. DevReference does not process payments directly and cannot guarantee that a refund will be approved.
If you have an issue with a purchase, you can check Google Play's options and contact our support team for guidance on using the app or restoring access, when possible.
If a purchase is refunded, reversed, or voided, access to Pro features may end or be limited according to the platform's rules and the validation of the purchase status.
10. Downloaded content and offline use
Offline downloads are intended exclusively for your use within DevReference. They do not grant you ownership of the content or the right to extract, share, redistribute, or use it outside the app.
Access to downloaded content may depend on having an active subscription at the time of download, purchase validation, device configuration, and platform rules. We may apply reasonable measures to protect downloaded content and validate access to Pro features.
The availability of downloaded content after a subscription is canceled or expires will be determined by the conditions shown in the app and by the version of these terms in effect, without prejudice to any rights granted to you by applicable law.
11. Intellectual property
DevReference, including its name, brand, design, interface, text, content structure, catalog selection and organization, graphics, icons, software, and other materials, is protected by intellectual property laws and belongs to Alonso Uribe or its licensors.
We grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and non-sublicensable license to install and use DevReference on devices you control, solely under these terms and the applicable app store rules.
All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
12. Suggestions and feedback
If you send content suggestions, comments, ideas, or bug reports, you grant us a non-exclusive right to use, adapt, incorporate, and publish those suggestions to operate and improve DevReference, with no obligation to compensate you.
Do not send confidential information, trade secrets, proprietary code, or materials you do not have the right to share.
13. Third-party services
DevReference may rely on third-party services, such as Google Play, Firebase, authentication providers, infrastructure, email, or notifications. The operation of these services may be subject to their own terms and policies.
We are not responsible for interruptions, changes, errors, or decisions attributable to third-party services that are outside our reasonable control.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DevReference is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted availability, accuracy, non-infringement, or freedom from errors.
This clause does not seek to exclude warranties or rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Alonso Uribe, its collaborators, and providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential damages, loss of data, loss of profits, business interruption, or decisions made based on DevReference's content.
Where the law allows limiting liability, our total liability related to DevReference will not exceed the amount you paid for the subscription during the twelve months prior to the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liabilities that cannot be legally excluded or limited, such as those arising from willful misconduct, fraud, or non-waivable consumer rights, when applicable.
16. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to DevReference or to specific features if we reasonably believe that:
- You breached these terms.
- You used the app fraudulently, abusively, or unlawfully.
- You attempted to bypass security measures or paid access.
- It is necessary to protect the service, other users, our rights, or to comply with the law.
When reasonably possible, we will try to explain the reason for the suspension. Termination does not affect obligations or rights that, by their nature, should continue to apply.
17. Changes to these terms
We may modify these terms when DevReference's features, our practices, providers, legal requirements, or platform conditions change.
If we make relevant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and may notify you inside the app, by email if we have your address, or through another reasonable means. If you continue using DevReference after the changes take effect, you accept the updated terms, unless applicable law requires another form of consent.
18. Governing law and dispute resolution
These terms are governed by the law applicable in your country of residence, without prejudice to any non-waivable rights you may have as a consumer.
Before starting a formal claim, we ask that you contact us at soporte@devreference.app to try to resolve the issue in good faith.
